If you are feeling a little drained from summer shenanigans and late nights, here are a few things you can do to jumpstart your fall with a healthy jolt of energy.
If you have a job which makes it hard to exercise, try standing up every 20-30 minutes and walk around the office, invest in an elliptical for your desk, convert your desk to a standing desk, or use your lunch break to get out for a walk.
Stay home? Incorporate more habits into your day to get more active. Take a few extra trips up the stairs, includes the kids in your exercise, head to the playground, or turn on some upbeat music and dance for a little bit.
Eating healthy can feel really hard, but the truth is, it’s just a routine change and a learning curve. Once you embrace the hard season of figuring out the new routine, it will become easier and may even become a new favorite habit. 1. Get Enough Sleep
Sounds obvious, right? A good night’s sleep is one of the best things you can do for your body, especially as you start to get back into the rigorous school and work routines. Most adults need between 7-9 hours of sleep per night, and some studies show that your sleep before midnight is the best.2. Stay Hydrated
Did you know that an adult woman’s body is made up of 55% of water? Water doesn’t just help keep your brain clear and your body alive, but it can help prevent constipation, eliminate toxins, and help your muscles perform better. There are so many ways to determine how much you should be drinking, but currently, the recommendation is for women over the age of 19 to drink about 2.7 liters. This includes your overall fluid intake, which also comes from eating fruits and vegetables, which means you should be aiming for 9 cups per day. This is probably on the conservative side of what you should be drinking, so don’t be afraid to increase the volume as you get better at achieving your goals.3. Move Your Body
Your body is meant to be active, but it’s not uncommon for people to live very sedentary lives. Driving to work, sitting behind the computer, driving home, laying on the couch to watch tv, and then going to bed - do you see the problem? Even if you only spend 30 minutes every day exercising, you will start to see improvements in your health!
