Ways to Boost Your Immune System BEFORE Winter

Eat Balanced

Focus on those whole foods like quality animal protein (if you are an omnivore), legumes, whole grains, nuts and seeds, as well as plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. You can also include superfoods like bee pollen, mushrooms, and algae.

What should you avoid? Processed meats, fried foods, soft drinks, processed baked goods, or foods with artificial sweeteners or sugars. These items can suppress your immune system. Staying hydrated is one of the best things you can do when you’re trying to improve your immune system. Want to add some vitamin C as well? Try adding a slice of lemon to your water!

Get Plenty of Rest 

The population as a whole suffers from chronic fatigue, which is known to increase risks of illness. Your body needs sleep time to strengthen and rejuvenate. Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep a day, and if needed, try to squeeze in an afternoon nap!

Increase the Friendly Bacteria 

There are so many studies confirming that your immune system is located in your digestive system. This means that keep ing a healthy gut flora is imperative to improving your immune system. Looking for foods with natural probiotics are a great way to make this happen. Look for fermented foods like raw sauerkraut, miso, yogurt, kefir, kimchi, and microalgae.
