Chiropractic Adjustment Techniques That Bring Relief

At Absolute Wellness Center, our goal is to help you find the root of your pain, and then use the proper techniques to address it. We believe that improving your neurological function and obtaining and balance in your nervous system is the key to finding absolute health. In order to maintain homeostasis and balance, we use a combination of adjustment techniques to help assist your body in healing. If you are looking for holistic health care at the Lake of the Ozarks, we would love to assist. Here is a quick introduction to the types of techniques we use in our office!

Diversified

This is a classic chiropractic technique and the one that is performed by many chiropractors. It’s often characterized by the “popping” sound as the adjustment is made. It’s also a manual adjustment, using no instruments, which allows a chiropractor to deliver a deeper motion into the joints and full spine. It can be extremely beneficial in treating sports injuries, but it is great for any other injuries that leave you needing an adjustment.

Thompson Drop

This chiropractic adjusting technique utilizes a “Segmental Drop Table” to enhance the motion of the force that is being applied. It takes advantage of the spine’s inherent join design and moves the spinal segments in the direction that will improve the motion. Most of the adjustments that are done with this table are completed with you lying face down, though some adjustments are easier face-up - specifically in the head and neck region.

ArthroStim Adjusting Instrument

Chiropractors use their hands to do adjustments because they can do more than instruments can. However, instruments do provide the benefit of mechanical forces that would be difficult or impossible for a chiropractor to produce on their own. An example would be that the ArthroStim instrument can produce a dozen spring-cushioned “thump” per second. The rapid and repetitive motion enables us to care for clients who are sensitive or in pain.

Activator Instrument Adjusting

The Activator Method Chiropractic Technique® is a diagnostic and treatment system used by some chiropractors. We use a small, hand-held instrument to deliver a gentle impulse force to the spine. The result and goal is to stimulate the nervous system and restore motion to the specifically targeted spinal vertebra or joint. There are two advantages of an Activator instrument-assisted treatment. The first is based on the speed of the device. The instrument is so quick that the body's muscles are less likely to tense in response, and resist the treatment. The lack of muscle resistance may increase the treatment effectiveness. The second is that the applied force is localized and does not add any additional torque or bending movement to the joint.
